Is it a right time for the Apple Inc. to launch iPhone in Philippines?

So much hype is now being given to the upcoming launch of the second-generation iPhone in the Philippines. It will be exclusively distributed by one of the leading mobile phone networks in the country – Globe Telecommunications. However, one analyst expressed his honest opinion and said that he believes that the launching of the 3G iPhone in the country is a very bad time.

According to Mr. Benedict Ferrer, a noted analyst from the XMG Asia Pacific, the roll-out of the iPhone in the mobile phone market of the Philippines is not really a great time.

Globe Telecommunications already announced that they will launch the 3G iPhone on August 22.

Benedict Ferrer also mentioned in his e-mail to the Inquirer.net that although Globe Telecommunications already decreased the selling price, the technology consumer in Philippines are now very much cautious on how they would spend their money for high-end items such as gadgets and other devices. This is mainly because of the increasing cost of food as well as transportation in the Republic of the Philippines.

Moreover, Benedict Ferrer also believes that the revenue growth coming from the subscriptions of the iPhone will still be limited. He said several reasons for such including the cost of the application, the value proposition, and the usage acceptability of the application among Filipino users.
