10 Million Unit iPhone Production Rumors Dispelled
After much confusion surrounding various reports that Apple had order 10 million 3G iPhone units, the fog is finally clearing and the truth is slowly coming to light. It seems that the source of the report, Ken Dulany, and analyst at Gartner, who said that he had heard rumors that Apple had made the second order of iPhones from Asia is now admitting that he actually has no idea whether or not Apple has ordered the production of the units. It is still unknown on whether or not the order has been or will be placed, though Gartner researchers believe that the new iPhone will have support for the newest mobile technology, 3G.

Researchers believe that if the order has been placed, the estimated production number of 10 million units would not be out of the question. They also say that there is no doubt that there will be a new revision of the iPhone released sometime in June, supporting the high speed capabilities of the 3G network.
However, with one analyst claiming that the production of the iPhone is unknown, another claims that he does know. Scott Craig, an analyst for the Bank of America, claims that Apple plans on producing over 11 million units during the third quarter alone.
Additionally, the Dow Jones News Wire reports that Taiwanese contract supplier and manufacturer Foxconn has been in negotiations with Apple to be granted the contract to produce the newest iPhone. It is believed that Foxconn has already been granted rights as the exclusive contract, though order size and production time are still a mystery.
