Be honest, if there are (I don’t know how many) 100,000 iPhone apps; How many of them are teaser apps to get you to buy the “real” one, and how many of them are “Pull my finger” apps?

I just did a search for “clock” and it turns out there are 374 clock apps. Do I need 2 of them?

I think the simple fact is that there is a phone that suits a segment of the population perfectly, and then there is a great chasm in the middle, full of people who will buy the one with better marketing and “mass appeal”.

For me: iPhone = App Store = iTunes = Noooo thanks.

Quite possibly the LEAST user friendly software that ever existed. You’re constantly searching for workarounds and solutions to problems that shouldn’t be problems and once you figure it out, if someone else in your household buys another iAnything then you just started trying to do the equivalent of unencrypting a nuclear power plant tech manual in tryng to manage both (or more than both) of them frmo the same computer. Yes, I know there are solutions, but the fact is…. there shouldn’t have to be. I don’t want to have to figure out how NOT to have my daughter’s iPod libraby on my iPhone. I just want it to work… simply and easily.

Drag + Drop = YAY!

I realize that this isn’t an issue for a big percentage of the iPhone users out there, but I know dozens of people with the same gripes about the iPhone and the Droid has solved nearly every one of my Apple/AT&T problems.

There are probably as many (or more) who live in a world more optimally suited to using the iPhone. The world can surely exist with both…

Can’t we all just get along?

Yes there is about to be a phone that can do practically all those things.
The HTC dragon!
Also with a much bigger screen, is a lot thinner, and has much better video.

Ummmm, you can transfer data from one iPhone to a new one.
Restore it from the backup of your current one.
You really think Apple would put a system in plac to do this?!?

Really? An Apple fan-boy is complaining about something being over-hyped? Ironic. There will never be an “iPhone Killer” (I hate that term). It will always have a position in the marketplace. But, there will be “iPhone Contenders”. Droid being one of them. And as far as the iPhone having more apps that Android; that’s temporary.

All the apps that I purchased for my iPod touch worked just fine when I purchased an iPhone. I think it’s safe that they’ll run on an iPhone on a different network (in the same country).

You have a point about switching. I find your comments about the cost of switching quite telling about one of the key factors of the industry and the power of the App Store..

On the other hand, there are many many people who have yet to get onto the lastest gen of smart phones (myself included) and are waiting for existing contracts to expire. There is a lot at stake for these companies to get the next wave of clients onto one platform or the other. You said it yourself, once you’re in, you’re in (stuck?)

Very harsh… Harsh indeed. I feel the droid is a wonderful phone, having used one myself, and it deserves a pat on the back. As far as all of these comparisons, people just like to see them juxtaposed and compare and contrast them. It’s kind of ridiculous how big a deal they are, but whatever. I love my iphone, and as long as apple continues to upgrade their hardware and software (higher res screen plz!!) I, and many others, will stick to it.
