Of course, the first version of the iPhone justifies the company’s confidence. Since the first iPhone launched last year sold in record numbers, Apple as well as various analysts believe the next version will do well too.

To prepare for consumer demand, Apple is expecting Foxconn Electronics to manufacture and ship 3 million 3G iPhone units in June. Various newspapers and magazines are also reporting that Apple believes it could eventually sell up to 25 million of the new iPhone by the end of 2008.

There are two notable changes on the 3G iPhone – first, the addition of 3G that would allow the device to connect to a faster cellular network, making users enjoy faster web surfing. The second change is in its software; reportedly having the ability to run third party, Apple-approved applications.
