Now that the whole world knows that the 3G iPhone is more than just $199, not many Apple watchers are too pleased even if the second-generation iPhone will be out in the market by July 11. The price of the 3G iPhone unit alone will be $199 for the 8GB iPhone model and $299 for the 16GB iPhone unit. However, the soon-to-be iPhone owners are so thrilled with the device’s latest price point. Those who are upset are the first-generation iPhone owners who paid twice as much as the new price of the 3G iPhone. But Apple Inc. should not be the one to be blamed.

iPhone

From the report of Cnet, a financial analyst said that AT&T is planning to pay Apple Inc. as much as $325 for even second-generation iPhone sold. One essential thing that the Cnet pointed out is that not everybody would get to enjoy the new price point for the latest and improved 3G iPhone. The $199 price point will only be available for the current users of iPhone as well as new customers of AT&T. If you are not a subscriber from AT&T or you are planning to switch coming from a different smartphone to the 3G iPhone, you might pay a little higher price.

Hello and thanks for the article. I heard a rumor about a trade in rebate for the 1st Gen iPhone owners. Is any of this true?? Any information would be great.

      Thanks.
