A year ago, when the first-generation iPhone was launched, purchasing the said device was no big deal. The customers back then just showed up early to queue, buy the phone and activate the iPhone at home. However, things will be quite different on July 11 as the second-generation iPhone will be out in the market.

iPhone 3G

Aside from braving the crowds (including the organic farming advocates), you also have no option but to activate the device inside the store where you will purchase it. Apple Inc. is very much aware that hundreds of people are anticipating their 3G iPhone. Therefore, they recently released an email saying that the Apple Store will start selling the 3G iPhones as early as 8 in the morning on July 11. Moreover, the email also includes a link

to a webpage where Apple Inc. described how the activation will work and several advices for those who will be queuing for the device.

According to the website, a concierge wearing an orange shirt will be directing them to the iPhone bay. In here, customers can take advantage of Apple Inc.’s personal setup. There will also be a specialist who will help the customers choose their 3G iPhone, select the best plan suited for them, and have their new device ready for web browsing, calling, and e-mailing right on the spot.
Customers are also advised to bring the social security ID or social security card, their credit card, and photo ID. Apple Inc. also advised that the customers having corporate accounts should directly contact AT&T.
