Apple Inc reaches the 10 million units sold threshold, 2 months earlier than projected
Apple Inc CEO Steve Jobs and CFO Peter Oppenheimer confirmed today that Apple has sold more than 10 million iPhones since the beginning of the year, and that’s with two months of sales to go. Ten million iPhones was the company’s projected 2008 goal, and they’re already there. Simply amazing.

Apple has only reported 9.3 million iPhone sales for the iPhone in its quarterly earnings reports since the beginning of the year, but that doesn’t account for all the iPhones the company has sold since the start of its newest fiscal quarter, which began in October, and sales have been brisk.
Apple reported sales of 6.9 million iPhone 3Gs for the most recent quarter, and has made the iPhone a global sensation, with launches in 51 countries worldwide, and now with over 30,000 points of distribution. By comparison, the original iPhone, which was released in June, 2007 and sold until July, 2008, sold 6.1 million units during its entire release period.
Truly inspiring stats for the future of the platform, and bear in mind the product is still in its infancy really.
