Apple releases the ‘bug fixing’ iPhone Firmware v. 1.1.4
Just before the forthcoming event on the iPhone SDK release, Apple has announced the release of a new version to the iPhone firmware – iPhone Firmware v1.1.4. This confirms that iPhone v1.1.3 firmware is just not the right one for iPhone SDK -based third-party applications. However, there has not been any official confirmation from Apple Inc. on the compatibility factor of iPhone SDK and iPhone’s firmware lineup.

The iPhone v1.1.4 firmware will now be available through iTunes. The highlight of the new code is that, it fixes bugs and takes over all previous versions. However, there is a slight doubt if you would want to stay away from the iPhone v1.1.4 firmware considering the third-party applications. Although, many people think that this new firmware update gives the iPhone the code it needs to run third party applications. Critics are however, still apprehensive whether the new version of the firmware can prove to do anything to the jailbroken and unlocked iPhones shipped all across the world.
While most people are kept guessing as to what updating has been done on the new version of the firmware, initial reports suggest that a few minor bugs including the SMS order bug, have been fixed. There have also been speculations about the ZiPhone jailbreak being still fully functional, even though the developers recommend not updating to 1.1.4 until it is completely tested.
Even though not much has yet been disclosed about the new Apple released OS X firmware update 1.1.4, one thing that is prominent in the new version for sure is the highly appreciated ‘bug fixing’ feature. The previous version of iPhone v1.1.3, had already introduced a few breakthrough new features such as the ability to customize the home page, etc.
This has really been an important period for Apple Inc. since many developments are taking place and many more are on the anvil. Apart from the release of the iPhone v1.1.4 firmware, the new MacBooks and MacBook Pros are making it to the shelves in Apple stores; not to forget the iPhone SDK, set to be released in an event in the company headquarters in Cupertino on March 6, 2008.
