It was reported on some sites that an issue in which the iPhone 3G fails to find or connect to otherwise valid WiFi networks was looming large for a few users. Dozens of users (of both original and 3G iPhones) began reporting the issue. Numerous complaints from users claiming that they can hardly connect at all in some cases, to some users saying networks suddenly having connection issues out of the blue.

Reports from users are now indicating that Apple is replacing iPhones with WiFi problems, noting “hardware issues.”. A nice proactive customer service step from Apple.

Note: Make sure to test your iPhone with several easy checks before claiming this type of problem, such as turning WiFi off then on in Settings, switching any router used to WPA2, and “Forgetting” the currently configured connection and allowing it to reconfigure.
