Apple’s Plans for 2008

Apple’s target for 2008 is to sell 10 million iPhone units. As of June 2007, Apple has managed to move over 4 million units, and though the target of 10 million phones seems far off, Apple CEO, Steve Jobs, still has some tricks up his sleeve. It looks like Apple isn’t going to quite until they have completely taken over the mobile phone market.

Scott Craig, and analyst at the Bank of America who previously predicted Apple would sell only 8 million phones, now expects that his initial production number may be inaccurate, and he now predicts that Apple’s total production numbers will be over 11 million units, with 3 million initially produced, followed by an additional 8 million. Experts predict that the new, high speed iPhone should become available in June, coinciding with the predicted release of an




iPhone software update. With previous predictions estimating Apple to only sell 8 million units this year, though these figures have been dismissed as Apple’s new production reports indicate otherwise. However, these are only predictions, and depending on Apple’s actual production plans, these may change with time.

Consumers can rejoice, as word has it the current iPhone models, selling currently at $400 and $500 depending on size, will most likely see a reduction in price when the newest models are released. The new model is not expected to differ from the older models in any way, other than it will take full use of AT&T’s 3G network. Experts predict a change in the new phone’s design as it has been common practice with Apple to update its designs from model to model, taking the iPod models as an example.

      When will the iPhone memory be increased beyond 16Gb to allow for larger music storage using Apple’s Lossless format.
      I’d really like to have an iPhone but the memory and ‘odd’ headphone socket size has put me off…… for now.
      I have bought an Apple Touch with 32Gb memory, it’s a brilliant piece of kit however that is almost full after converting certain songs to lossless format.
      Any answers….?
