Now that their coverage of Apple Inc. has resumed, the JMP Securities recently issued a note saying the there might be slower sales of the iPhone because of global economic factors. Moreover, the note also said that the retail stores of AT&T are now recommending the BlackBerry phones from Research in Motion over the 3G iPhone from Apple Inc., mainly because of the e-mail functions.

JMP Securities checked at least 11 retails stores of AT&T, 8 Best Buy stores, and 31 Apple retail stores. According to the employees of Apple Inc. retails stores, the sales of the second-generation iPhone declined
On the other hand, JMP Securities said that at the 11 AT&T retails stores that they visited, the employees usually recommend either the BlackBerry Curve or the Pearl over Apple Inc.’s iPhone. This is when they were asked if what mobile phone could they suggest when it comes to checking emails and accessing the Internet.
When the employees were specifically asked about the email, they consistently suggested the BlackBerry from RIM first.
