Out of all the hundreds of developers that attended the WWDC last June 9, Gene Munster, a famous analyst, surveyed at least 20 developers during the event. Gene Munster found out that at least half of the participants are currently working on applications related to business to be used on the iPhone. Moreover, more than 70 percent of those applications that these developers were working on will be free for the consumers of the 3G iPhone. This simply means that they are creating business applications for the iPhone without any charge at all.

As of today, many developers of mobile phone applications require users to pay for a certain amount before

they can use the business applications including management-related software. But if things will change and these business applications will be free for all, this would certainly make the iPhone more appealing. However, it would also certainly hurt the software companies who are currently selling their mobile phone business software.

But how can these developers earn if they will be offering their business applications for the iPhone without charge? Gene Munster said that they would probably have some sponsors where they will be including the sponsor’s name in some part of their application. The analyst also mentioned that it is also possible that the free business application is part of the developers’ marketing strategy.
