Cydia “App Store” now officially open
The much talked about Cydia Store (that we reported on last week) is now open and ready for business. It is not a separate application – just an update to Cydia that adds in the ability to purchase jailbreak apps within the program.

Initially the Cydia Store is using Amazon Payments, but there are plans to support Paypal very soon (later this week according to a recent post from Cydia’s developer), good news for the majority that use PayPal.
This would seem to be a signal to Apple that people want many of the features that Cydia provides, but at the same time pointing out Cydia to users isn’t something they want to do, lest they drive existing users that don’t know about it towards the service.
It’ll be interesting to see how the Cydia App Store performs. Will people pay for jailbroken apps in the same numbers as “approved” Apple apps?
