Did AT&T made the right choice?


Probably the biggest beneficiary of the 3G iPhone’s price cut is AT&T. Although there are some analysts saying that the AT&T paid so much to use the Apple’s new device, the $199-worth 3G iPhone could help the AT&T to further solidify their lead in the mobile phone industry.

Before Apple Inc. made a deal with AT&T, it first came to Verizon but was rejected. This is because of the Apple Inc.’s demands as well as financial terms. Apple Inc. would like to have full control of the device’s distribution and they want to have a cut from the monthly fees paid by the consumers as well.




Out of nowhere, AT&T entered the scene. Afterwards, they soon announced that they and Apple Inc. already signed a deal in United States that would expire after five years.

After a year, most of the experts in the mobile industry began to praise AT&T for the company’s marketing acumen.

Furthermore, experts also mentioned that the 3G iPhone can put AT&T, its carrier in United States, over the edge especially that the AT&T will be the exclusive carrier of the said device in the country. Aside from that, the revenue-sharing agreement with Apple has now been replaced for the traditional plan wherein AT&T will receive all the revenue.
