Aside from expanding its market, Apple is also trying to consider expanding the inventory of their ringtones at the same time. The company is offering ninety-nine-cent upgrade to its ringtones from the ordinary 99-cent music tracks. However, there are some tracks that cannot be used as a ringtone. As of now the ringtones can be downloaded at the iTunes store using a Wi-Fi. And since ringtones will be downloaded directly to the user’s iPhone

using 3G, it would be a lot more convenient to everyone.

Furthermore, Apple is also planning to include answer tones or the ringback tones. The ringback tones are the songs that a caller would hear while waiting for the person on the other line to answer instead of the usual ringing sound.

With this, several music labels are now trying to negotiate so that they can earn more money for each ringback tones as well as ringtones. Moreover, these music labels also want to increase the price for the songs downloaded using Wi-Fi. But the price for songs downloaded via internet remains the same. As far as negotiation goes, the wholesale price for each song that will be downloaded over the air is more or less 70 cents.
