First-generation iPhones are still hot

The second-generation iPhone, also known as 3G iPhone, has already been launched. However, the classic iPhone models are still considered sizzling hot. Despite the new price of the 3G iPhone (which is $199), the value of the first-generation iPhone did not lowered. In fact, it is still high as seen on the eBay as well as other resale venues.

As a result, this raises concern about the unlocking or jailbreaking of the 3G iPhone in countries where there is a big demand and where it will be on sale. This includes the countries like China and Russia.

At eBay, there are numerous listings of first-generation iPhone models that have 16GB and are unlocked. The bids are more than $600. This is $200 higher than the original price of the 16GB iPhone model which is $499.

The market of unlocked iPhones is definitely lucrative for those entrepreneurs who already bought more than a dozen of iPhones so that they can resell it and can be used with different carriers in the international market.

On the other hand, Apple had a more traditional approach when it comes to the 3G iPhone. There will be upfront payment from the wireless companies. This would allow the 3G iPhones to be availed at a discounted price. Aside from that, they must also sign up for a contract which would last for a year or two.
