The internet is aflame with rumors, opinions and speculation after Adobe announced they’re “working on” a Flash Player for the iPhone platform.

Flash

They’re hoping that Apple will publish it if they get it finished. Well, it’s up in the air as to whether that will happen. Many blogs and pundits say it won’t ever happen, unless Apple’s hand is forced in some way, such as a competing phone having Flash taking sales away from the iPhone.

As Daring Fireball, another blog states: “Think about it: If there were a Flash player for the iPhone, you could write games and other software in Flash rather than in

Cocoa Touch. And you could sell games and apps directly for the Flash player, completely circumventing the App Store. Does this sound like something Apple would allow?”

No, they wouldn’t. They’d be shooting themselves in the foot. Developers would love it, but it may bruise Apple’s bottom line too much to ever allow it.

At this point, coding Flash for Android (Google’s upcoming phone) might be a smarter idea. It’s primary marketing campaign will be based on freedom of choice and open source thinking.

Apple has been known to rethink things as of late, so you never really know. But odds right now are against it ever happening.
