The new 3G iPhone owners were all excited with their latest toy. After the debut of iTunes App Store, there were already 10 million applications that have already been downloaded, making the App Store a smash hit. Some applications need payment while others are for free. If you want some applications without spending a dollar, here are some great free applications that you must download from iTunes App Store.

1. NYTimes – get the freshest and latest news, editorials, and business stories straight from the NYTimes website. Although the site is a little slow right now (might be overwhelmed by the huge

traffic) but imagine having a publication that is just a tap away.

2. AOL Radio – choose from any of the 200 available stations where you can stream music. To make it easier for the users, the stations were organizes by genres.

3. Tap Tap Revenge – this is a music video game that is simply like the Guitar Hero. But in this case, you can play it on your iPhone.

4. eReader – if you are fond of reading e-books on your PDA and other devices that support e-book, you can now use this application to read your e-books on your iPhone.

I must respectfully disagree with this list. (A) NY Times - I’ve tried it and in my very subjective opinion I can acheive much better results just using Google Reader with sources linked to CNN, MSNBC, FOX and all of the oner news agencies. So this one maybe a valuble application (especially that it is free), but the content represents the views of only one organization…
      (B) AOL Radio - Again, in my very very subjective opinion, if all you want from your radio is music, this one is for you. On the other hands, I’d like to listen to sports (NHL anyone), news (CNN, please) and not just a music (after all, I’ve got an iPod build right into my iPhone). What would be really cool is to be able to listed to Sirius or XM on my iPhone, but it is my understanding that uSirius is not in the hurry to get their application into the App store…
eReader - Reading a book on the iPhone - what a horrible idea. With that screen staying on, you’ll have your battery last how long - 17 minutes? Come on, let’s get real here. If you do want to read a book with your iPhone - buy an Audio version.

What we really need on the iPhone is Free VOIP software, like iCall or Fring (that can use your existing SIP or Skype or simular cervice). That is what App store desperately needs…

Oh, by the way, I do not know anything about the guitar Hero or Tap Tap Revenge, but to be perfectly honest I did not really look at the applications that would allow me to just kill some time (for that purpose the App store has a “Stapler”) :)
