GMail get pushed officially for the iPhone
Despite the fact that it wears on the battery quite a bit, there isn’t anything as cool or convenient on mobile phones than push email, and GMail is among the most popular free email out there today.

Before now, many apps tried to simulate and fill in the gap that was official GMail push support, some well, some not well at all. But now, wait no longer: official GMail push support is here as of today.
Google has “officially” added Gmail push support to Google Sync for iPhone and iPod Touch (and as a side note, to Windows Mobile as well). So it’s available on most platforms that didn’t have it before. Perhaps that’s the reason for all the odd Gmail outages the last few weeks?
Reading from Google’s blog, when you use Google Sync, you can now get Gmail messages pushed directly to your iPhone or WinMo device. And Google Sync allows you to sync Contacts and Calendar as well as your GMail, so feel free to sync your heart out.

Yeah, it works. I, however, have gone back to IMAP sync and fetch on my iPhone 3G. The EAS setup does not allow you to delete a message, at all. I know Google wants me to keep every useless email I’ve ever received, but I don’t. I only keep real conversations, not mail list stuff or news stuff I’ll NEVER read again! In order to delete a message (i.e. move it to the trash), I have to delete it (either by swiping and hitting the red delete button or the trash icon), which puts it in the “All Mail” folder, then go in there, and delete it once again. I delete more than I save, and that’s wayyyyyy too many swipes. When I hit delete, I want it gone.
Can we sync Google’s contacts and calender with the Apple calender and contacts on the iphone?
