Hot Stuff – iPhone 3GS white overheats and becomes discolored?
We don’t know how many people have hit this problem (the Apple support forums talk about only overheating occasionally), but at least one user claims that his white iPhone 3GS has become PINK due to overheating, which is a very unusual (and sad) problem, if true.

Not that there’s much to take away from this, but just take a look at your white iPhone 3GS. If it looks like the photo here, then you have a problem. Or you’ve been eating cotton candy and you need to wipe your hands first before checking your email, which you shouldn’t be doing with a $200-$300 cell phone anyway.
Perhaps this user has been putting it into a sauna or something, as this hasn’t been an issue previously. We’ll keep an eye on this and make sure it doesn’t become an issue for anyone else.

i know my 3GS gets pretty hot when i stream MLB games and have it plugged in at the same time.. haven’t seen discoloration though..
Same here, brand new iPhone 3GS White and after 2 days i have a wide pink stripe on the back. Now i need Apple to change it!
What can i as a user do to avoid this problem? Do apple change the phone if its turn pink? Or ist i better to choose the black one, even if the withe looks better.
