India to have the most expensive 3G iPhone
AT&T in United States and the O2 in the UK are willing to subsidise the 3G iPhone. As a result they will be offering the said gadget on July 11 at a very low price. However, India may experience otherwise. The carriers of the 3G iPhone in India do not wish to subsidise the 3G iPhone that is why the second-generation iPhone might cost a fortune in the country.

The two main service providers in India namely the Vodafone Essar and the Bhartu Airtel are afraid of the possible cracking or unlocking of the 3G iPhone. Moreover, they are also thinking that there will be a flood of counterfeited 3G iPhones in the Indian market. These are the reasons why both companies do not wish to subsidize the 3G iPhone in India.
According to the reliable sources, the cost of the 3G iPhone in India will be twice as much as the price of the 3G iPhone in United States. The price range of the 8 GB model of the 3G iPhone will be between Rs 16,000 to Rs 18,000. On the other hand, the 16 GB model of the second-generation iPhone would be between Rs 24,000 to Rs 28,000. Aside from that, the service plans in India might be $25 to $30 higher compared to the plans set by AT&T in United States.

Hi
A bit of relief. Now airtel is providing option of EMI to buy iPhone (www.airtel.in/iphone3g). At least, now people who were expecting to be in range of 16-20K can think again to buy it with EMI option. What you say guys? Can we hope to get its price down in future as well?
