iPhone 3GS crack ready, but not for prime time yet
The Dev Team has cracked the iPhone 3GS (as if there was any doubt). Trouble is, if they released it now it would do far more harm than good.

You see, a firmware update, version 3.0.1, is inevitable, and will probably arrive from Apple sooner rather than later because Cupertino probably feels that it needs to plug a few major holes being exploited by ultrasn0w. So, the team has decided it’s best to wait so that the few people who can benefit from the crack now don’t become the only people who benefited from it.
The Dev Team speaks:
“Here’s the critical point, the reason why we’re delaying our version of the jailbreak: Once the jailbreak is out, Apple will fix the iBoot-family bug we use to accomplish it. They will simply stop signing the old iBoots and only sign the fixed ones. If you bought your phone after Apple has done this, there’s nothing you can do…the jailbreak isn’t going to work for you.
It is possible that Apple will find the bug we use without our handing it to them on a silver platter (via a public jailbreak). In that case, we will have delayed our jailbreak for “nothing”. But we’d rather be safe than sorry!
Apple is surely coming out with a 3.0.1 firmware release shortly. They need to fix ultrasn0w. They need to fix some UI issues. 3.0 is buggy and 3.0.1 is coming. We’re going to wait and see what 3.0.1 brings before figuring out the release date for our version of the jailbreak.
In the meantime, we have some remaining 3.0 jailbreak issues to investigate, including push notification. Thanks for being patient with us while we took a 3GS timeout!”

With all the people owning the iPhone, I don’t know anyone with a jailbroken phone. Give it up with the jailbreaking already. It’s like chasing a girl you’ll NEVER get… and for God sake, Dev Team, get out of your parent’s basement
Not all of us are content to spend money on a 600$+ device only to be told how we can use it. If you are happy with that, then that’s all you, but if I pay money for a device, I’m going to use it however I want.
Hopefully you can sign up for a group that will limit you to what you can install on your PC also…i mean, you obviously like to be told what you can and can’t do with your computer/mobile devices. I myself prefer to use any program I deem worthy of my machine/device.
@senser
I agree, and i disagree
i had a Jailbroken Iphone Edge for a while. I feel the same as a lot of Hacked/modded devices. Though the point is to gain something you dont have, a lot of the point becomes Piracy… In the total time i had the Jailbroken Iphone, i looked at the themes, and chose not to use any *mostly because, theres 25,000+ apps, and youll NEVER have a constant theme, making it too ugly to use, or they just get out of date* The tweaks were semi useful, like emoji, or the 5 on the bottom… but no one can see the emoji, or ask how to use it. same with the 5 people ask, and sometimes i feel i want 6 but I dont see i really need anything besides Phone/Ipod down there =\. Finally the only REALLY useful app *besides the one to display upcomming events on the lock screen, PLEASE APPLE add that!* was Applous or whatever. sadly the point of this is to pirate apps =\, i only used it to gain Beejive *15 usd messenger program* because i dont see why i should pay 15 usd, for messengers which are free XD…
though the 1 or 2 things i mentioned sound nice, but they cause serious lag/heat Y_Y which is really not worth it, esp because you got to wait for each exploit =\. sadly the is the same with all homebrew some form of piracy. PSP = Emulators/ISO loading, Wii = ISO loading/wad installing *in some very rare cases cheating/video playing, but its mostly for the piracy* PS3 = wants for PSN store item installing/iso loading, DS = Emulators/NDS file booting/gamesave editing, and finally Iphone/touch = app stealing for the most part =\
I live in Pakistan and the ONLY iphone we get here is the jailbroken one. I own a 2G right now and have been waiting for the 3GS. If I am willing to spend the money to buy this phone, then why can it not be made available where i live? And if it can’t, then I guess the jail-broken one is the only option.
Therefore, Mr. Senser, I recommend you get your head out of that hole and look at things in a wider prespective.
@ senser… “NEVER get” ?! For the love of Pete man, there hasn’t been a firmware version that HASN’T been successfully cracked by the dev team.
Its about having the ability to really use the product you buy as you see fit. No company out there tells you when and how to use your washing machine, or your car? Why should you be locked and limited away from natural functions of any other device?
Frankly, uploading 3G internet anywhere in the city to my laptop, through my Iphone, thanks to the dev team, is a pretty big deal.
With out the dev team to hack the Iphone and make it better, Apple would have never updated it to make it as good!!! all the cool stuff apple has added is because someone else did it first. They had no choice but to comply with what we wanted. Soyou can thank that Dev team for that. Whether you use the hacks or not!!!
@Senser
