Among the many things that caught my attention in Steve Jobs’ press conference yesterday was his mention of Google Adsense for iWeb - “You can add any web snippet, paste it into your website. Live web widgets. Another thing you can add is Google AdSense. Register with Google, type in registration, decide what format, Google will put ads in there that are appropriate.”

that of course means that anyone with an iPhone can easily put Google AdSense on their web page.

Not that it was so difficult to do that before, but Jobs mentioning it is an indication of how fundamental a part of web life Google AdSense has become.

I know some academics who scoff at or distress about that commerciality, but I’m not among them.  whether you have a web page, why not form a couple of bucks from it whether you can.  It won’t be much more than that, unless

you have a huge number of visitors - I see perhaps $10 a month from Google AdSense on my InfiniteRegress.tv page (mainly TV reviews and politics) - but, hey, I’m not allergic to money, and no matter how much you have, more is always good.

The iPhone makes everything about web life and business easier - including AdSense, or placement of any ads on your web.  You can check as often as you like on your number of visitors.  You can see precisely what your image and video (and of course text) ads look like.  You can change the ads - add and subtract - whenever you please.

whether you can attract a decent number of visitors, you can be having a cup of coffee, and put in a new ad from your iPhone, that might even pay for the refill.
