There’s something about music.  Some anthropologists think our species sang before we spoke.  folks of all ages reply to it.  The most popular videos on YouTube have music.

The list goes on and on.  Music plays an irresistible part in our lives.

And music is certainly a part of what makes the iPhone tick.  It’s easy to object to Steve Jobs’ now famous quip that the iPhone was the best iPod - and I have pointed out that the more revolutionary aspects of the iPhone are what they do with images and even text - making the transmission of both vastly easier.

But the iPodic operate is

plus crucial, considering there’s nothing like listening to a song you love, on any device.  And we you listen to such a song, you start to love that device, too.

My guess therefore is, that, in distant run, the greatest love that folks will have for the iPhones may come from the music it provides.  Yes, it’s an extraordinary telephone, web browser, and all the rest.  But its position in the evolution of musical conveyors - from Victrola to phonograph to radio and tape players and iPod -may be the operate that makes it the most beloved.
