World Camera or Sekai Camera now has a social tagging service that was made exclusively for Apple Inc.’s iPhone. This was developed by a mobile app provider called Tonchidot which is based in Tokyo.

Sekai Camera

The main purpose of the Sekai Camera is to use the device from Apple as one mobile information terminal. This would allow the smartphone to link the real world by using tags that will be given by the users of Sekai Camera, Tonchidot, and from the information that will be taken from the other web services. The users may now walk around a particular area with their iPhone while they get can details about the

surrounding areas.

One example given by Tonchidot is when a user goes in a mall the tags from Sekai Camera will show them where the restaurants are located, more details about a product that has been tagged before, or the number of calories that can be found in a chocolate bar!

Peter Anshin, the Marketing Director of Tonchidot, refused to tell the kind of technology used in Sekai Camera. But with its features, one can say that it uses GPS or maybe a cell-tower triangulation. The accelerometer of the iPhone might be measuring the angle of the nearby areas.
