Waiting hours in lines, going to the extreme of sidewalk camping and then paying a large sum of money, plus signing a two year contract with the carrier (AT&T) - all for a fancy cell phone. Really?
If nothing else you have to admire the sheer genius of the marketing plan leading up to the release of Apple’s iphone. Hype is a good thing so long as the product lives up to the expectations which have been built up in the public’s mind.
For the most part the phone does live up to the promises of its promoters. It does many different things and everyone will have their own favourite aspect or aspects to this new toy.
Personally, I love the Email and Voicemail features. It is possible to view a PDF, Microsoft Word and Microsoft Excel attachments via my
AT&T reworked its voicemail infrastructure to provide the above feature. You can view your voicemail messages without listening. This gives you the freedom of choosing which to play and which to delete. A small feature, but it can be enormously helpful. You can give unwanted sales call the slip or buy yourself some time to do homework before returning a client’s call.
I know we shouldn’t admit to the above but it is a fact of life and the iphone makes that a little easier.
