Griffin Technology, makers of various products similar in nature to this one, has launched the iTrip Auto for the iPhone — an FM transmitter fully certified for use with the iPhone and iPod touch. It costs $69.99.

Like their other iTrip products, the iTrip Auto for iPhone connects and powers via your vehicle’s cigarette lighter, and features a built-in FM transmitter that lets you stream your audio from the iPhone to your vehicle’s radio.

The iTrip Auto for iPhone features “SmartScan,” which seeks out and locks the best frequencies available as presets. This was missing from most of their line, and takes most of the hassle out of using this type of gadget. It has a power switch with a three-color charge indicator, and saves four preset frequencies from 88.1 to 107.9. The transmitter has a built-in LCD display so you can see what frequency the device is tuned to.
