Latest App Store trend: Long keyword flooded app names

What will they think of next, those ever so clever iPhone developers who help make the App Store such a wonderful place.

McApps

We already have the devs who produce dozens of apps that all do essentially the same thing but manage to occupy 10 screens in iTunes and we have those that throw the name of every best-selling game or app into the description page for their app, so that searches for genuinely popular apps will be horrendously clouded by inaccurate results.

Now we have another brilliant innovation that’s sure to bring even more useless and frustrating search results to all of us, and help make it harder to find good apps – the silly long app name, packed with keywords, some relevant and not so relevant. The pic displays just one such example.

We’ve come across several apps like this already. Great….let’s not just make mediocre apps (the only reason an app needs to use this tactic), let’s keep working harder to ensure only these apps show up in search results. We already know that a standard App Store search includes both title and descriptions for apps, and often returns inconsistent results because of misuse of keywords within app descriptions.

If the stupidly long app name approach catches on, and is allowed to continue by Apple, then that will eventually defeat the usefulness of a title-only search, not a good thing for the end-user.

This can’t even be called “Marketing”, this is called lazy douchebaggery.
Search results need a “Flag as offensive/irrelevant” button. For all those apps that have NOTHING to do with Sirius XM radio!

Agreed, Apple should stop this lameness.

I also wish Apple would add a favourites section the App store. So if there were apps I was interested in, but not going to buy straight away, I could add them to my favourites list. Otherwise I normally just forget about the app and its a potential lost sale/download.
