LG Arena KM900 is most obvious iPhone clone yet

I don’t harbor a grudge with any company borrowing the iPhone’s UI. Large button, black background to make colors stand out, intuitive layout, these are all good ideas.

LG K900

However, there’s a point where “borrowing” and cloning end, and the new LG Arena KM900 is very close to toeing that line. I’ll be shocked if Apple doesn’t have at least a word or two with LG.

The LG Arena KM900, slated for a Europe release this March, is about as close as you can get to the iPhone without releasing a straight-up clone. The KM900 is just as convincing as most iPhone clones out there. Even the icons, like those for music, calling, the calendar, calculator and settings are extremely close to Apple design.

But it’s made by LG. Not necessarily a bad thing, but maybe this phone might be worth keeping an eye on, since there’s a chance Apple may not appreciate the tribute very much, considering the “warning” mood Apple has been in lately regarding companies “stealing” their IP.

Its funny – the Arena does not concentrate on this as its main screen (You will note there is a homescreen button at the bottom)

It is an iphone copy i guess when it comes to this screen, but I certainly like the Arena far more better than the iphone – The Arena is amazing for media!

Save your sanity and do not go anywhere near this phone. The day I ordered this phone is a huge regret. It is a useless touch screen that freezes whenever it decides to and unlocks itself whilst in your pocket and makes calls to your phonebook because some genius decided to make the touch screen the ‘unlock’ button. Did he/she not think the phone would be pressed against your leg in your pocket?

Back to the point I made about it freezing, this often occurs when you have reached someones voicemail and you want to hang up the phone but can’t because the screen has ‘imbolised’ itself. I have been informed many a time by my friends that I keep leaving voicemails for them that consist of a lot of a swearing. I reassure them that it is the phone I am talking to and not them.

As for typing a message or scrolling through the phonebook, my god what a chore. I just end up phoning the person i want to talk to; to save further irritation. My contract upgrade can’t come soon enough. I’m shocked that this phone is still intact with the amount of times its been at the wall and the floor. It is tough, I’ll give it that. All I know is that I will never own an LG phone again.
