MLB At Bat just announced a cut that puts the price for the app at a very affordable $2.99 (from $5) to get an impressive app with a slick interface, great info and solid features.

MLB At Bat

What’s the catch? You have to buy MLB At Bat again next year, according to reports released. The current version of MLB At Bat will expire after the end of the season which is in approximately the end

of this month (or so). A curious and rather disappointing decision by MLB.

We don’t normally comment over things like this, but: Does anyone else think charging users every year is a bit on the greedy and short-sighted side? Especially since no other apps from the Store really do this kind of thing? We’d be curious to see how many people pay for it this year, and then renew it next year.

Yes. It’s Major League Baseball. There is a reason their popularity is declining. As a die hard Cubs fan this was the first application I purchased when the phone went to 2.1. And I don’t feel like I should pay again. So next year I will simply download the cracked version via torrent or usenet.
