More Nations to Join Apple iPhone Network

The iPhones since its launch by Apple Inc. in mid-2007 has met up great success in the United States. With the sales figure touching 3.75 million in the fourth fiscal quarter, and expecting 10 million sales in 2008, iPhones have been a revolution that has taken the technology buffs by storm.

If AT& T has been the most successful provider from the United States providing 2 million connections in a period of few months, O2 from the United Kingdom says it has sold 290,000 iPhones in the UK to date; while Orange France and T-Mobile Germany propelling sales of 70,000.

The iPhones mostly gained popularity with its Multitouch features – from rotating and flipping images to dragging and dropping them with mere finger tips; to listing emails and playing music of your choice. However, with time, iPhones have been constantly upgrading their features to create a wider and newer customer base.

The latest being the addition of new models with more storage capacity of 16 GB from the earlier 8 GB. Though it has all the previous features like music, videos, photos, and the Web on a full touch screen, it also comes with the latest software application like Google Maps.

Cashing on its popularity, Apple Inc. is now contemplating expansion in more nations beyond the United States, UK and Germany. The countries chosen by Apple for its next phase expansion for iPhones are Spain, Italy and Switzerland. Just as Apple has its exclusive partner AT&T in the United States as its service partner, it is also considering similar collaboration with the three countries of expansion.

While there is news of Apple soon to sign, iPhone deals with Italy, it is most likely to collaborate with Telecom Italy Mobile (TIM). Similarly, in Switzerland, Swisscom Mobile might bag the collaboration awards; and in Spain its largest mobile phone network, Telefonica is all set to cater the Italian iPhone users.

Interestingly, Telefonica is also the parent company of O2, which has the iPhone contract in the UK. Therefore, it is expected that iPhones can easily capture those markets worldwide, setting many records in time to come.
