NASA app released to the App Store

NASA, the US spec agency dedicated to the exploration of space, has announced the release of an iPhone application available for free download right now.

NASA App

The app enables people to be updated to the very latest in NASA happenings, including real-time updates of orbit locations of NASA spacecraft in real-time (sounds like something a spy could definitely use to his advantage, now that we think about it).

More from the listing for the app:

The NASA software makes extensive use of built-in iPhone features and usability to offer compelling yet concise information in a clear and intuitive way. Receive and share dynamic NASA mission updates, out-of-this-world images, and intriguing video links. Follow the path and progress of space exploration in real time while tracking the global orbits of your favorite spacecraft, all in the palm of your hand.

We’re fascinated by the new usage of the iPhone for information gathering and data presentation, especially for free. Hopefully, more government agencies (with something interesting to present) follow suit with this sort of app execution.
