A new US survey just conducted reveals an overall decline of growth in the mobile phone segment, not many like Sprint as a carrier anymore, the iPhone still selling well but not as hot as it was a few months ago, and the Android G1 phone has been (commercially) pretty much a failure for T-Mobile. Continued growth is still expected overall, however, for the mobile phone world.

The Morgan Stanley supervised survey of 15,000+ American customers queried them about their current wireless provider, which phone they now own, and if they had switched providers recently (in the last year or so).
The interview only counted users’ main phones, and only surveyed adults (no teens). Secondary phones were not considered, and only the head of the household was surveyed. It was completed in December of last year.
Some interesting stats: The survey found that overall sequential subscriber growth down to 3%, the worst in over two years, with fewer upgrades and fewer new additions, but also with fewer disconnects than the year-ago quarter. Overall phone sales went down 5.4% over the last quarter, and almost 8% over the last year.
The iPhone fared well, with strong sales and customer satisfaction, but overall sales have declined the last few quarters from the previous ones, but are still higher than last year.
