If the gaming industry will collaborate with Apple Inc. it would result into something that can be as powerful as a nuclear fusion reactor. However, if these two were combined incorrectly, it is possible that both companies will be suffering market loss for several weeks.

However, this time can give a different scenario. According to Brian Caulfield of Forbes, this era is all about Apple’s smartphone – the iPhone. Moreover, he also stated that the maker of the popular game console, Nintendo, would face a significant challenge by the time that the new iPhone has been already launched. Brian Caulfield is specifically pertaining to the handheld console of Nintendo which is Nintendo DS.

The Nintendo DS was released last 2004. Since then, it was considered as one of the most popular gaming device that you can carry everywhere you go. Because of the popularity of Nintendo DS, it gave the company a sales worth

70 million dollars. And since the Nintendo DS has features like touch-screen, WiFi, as well as microphone, people probably think that this device is a competition of the iPhone.

At some point, the answer might be “yes”. By the time that the App Store has already been launched, it will have some games coming from the likes of Sega as well as Electronic Arts. However, iPhone is not made specifically for games like the Nintendo DS whose main function is one task alone. The motion sensors and the touch-screen technology of the iPhone may be suitable for other games but it can be bad for other games too.

And since Nintendo has been in the gaming industry for quite a long time now, the downloadable applications will surely help the iPhone to make its way to success. However, do not expect that the success of the smartphone will be at the expense of Nintendo DS.

One Comment to “Nintendo DS won’t get beaten by the iPhone”

Although the iphone is comparable to the Nintendo DS, it will never be one. The DS will do nothing but play games and therefore it will always be better at doing it. The iphone on the other hand can be like a multimedia device, playing music and video and play minor less great games. If people want the to have good games, good videos and good music just buy both items.
