There had been so much commotion lately with the iPhone users regarding the free Wifi offered by the company of AT&T. Although there is nothing solid that was announced, one of the iPhone users had discovered that he can no longer browse the web in an AT&T Hotspot.

The said iPhone user launched the gadget’s browser, Safari at the AT&T Hotspot. In here, he was given a screen where he could login using his iPhone number as well as a password from AT&T’s account so that he can access the company’s free Wifi using his iPhone. However, the login screen immediately disappeared. This left many iPhone users as well as non-iPhone users to speculate that someone working for AT&T flipped a switch with made the iPhone users unable to access the web.
The rumor became even stronger few days after the report when another iPhone user noticed that the rate plans on iPhones indicated at the site
Well it turns out that this rumor was supposed to be an AT&T’s feature that should have been launched yesterday. Unfortunately, there had been some minor glitches which made delayed the launch of the feature.
According to the memo given by the AT&T, the launch for iPhone’s Wifi has been cancelled. Future customers as well as existing customers should not worry since there are no solid announcements made by the company yet. There will be more AT&T Hotspots where iPhones can use a free Wifi service if there project’s status changes.
The company didn’t give any definite decision or announcement regarding the free Wifi service. At least there is still a great chance that the feature can have a later launch date. Wait for the WWDC on June 9 and see if Steve will be including it as part of his announcement.
