At the Mobile World Congress, not only did Nokia reveal the name of their iPhone killer, they also disclosed the details of the device.

Nokia Tube

Niklas Savander, head of Nokia’s Services and Software division, said that the company was definitely aiming for “platformising touch”, hinting that it would be available on all versions of the S60 Symbian OS, instead of being chained to one device.

If this is the case, analysts agree that the Nokia Tube can be a cheap alternative to the iPhone. However, it would all depend on how badly Nokia wants their Tube out there.

The only thing certain is that the Tube will be the first touch device from Nokia.

Many rumors are buzzing about the possibility of the Tube as the iPhone killer. This included rumors about its lack of onboard memory (due to a card slot for memory expansion) and its screen wouldn’t be multi-touch like the iPhone. However, it is certain that the 16:9-widescreen Nokia Tube would include Java, GPS, Wi-FI and 3G.

Early pictures of Nokia’s so-called iPhone is available at Symbian Freak. (http://www.symbian-freak.com/news/008/04/nokia_s60_touch_aka_tube_hands_on.htm) Rumors suggest that the Tube’s debut would be around autumn.
