Oh the shame… oh the disgrace… oh what blasphemy! The iPhone continues to be unlocked! According to Apple and AT&T, that was never the intent of the iPhone, for humans to actually have a choice of carriers. You know the old saying, “The road to hell is paved with good intentions.” Nonetheless, I suspect AT&T and Apple aren’t too chipper about the turn of events. Apple has always been a company that wanted tight integration and control, but it makes you wonder… where should the line be drawn? Is the deal with
AT&T monopolistic, and could it keep potential buyers of the iPhone away? In my opinion it very well could. But at the same instance, imagine what would happen whether OS X were “easily” cracked to run on your run-of-the-mill Dell or custom-built PC box? Things would be a complete mess driver wise and it would take away income from Apple… Like it or not, the tight integration that Apple has employed is a double-edged sword. What do you think?
