Telekomunikacja Polska, the largest telecoms operator in Poland, has already launched Apple Inc.’s iPhone in the country. They have confirmed that they spent money to pay several young Polish who are hip-looking and stylish to be extras who will queue in line along with the real iPhone buyers.

Wojciech Jabczynski, the spokesman of Telekomunikacja Polska, said that it was just a marketing move. Everybody in their company thinks that it was an interesting marketing strategy.

Telekomunikacja Polska is currently controlled by France Telecom. The latter owns another mobile phone brand, Orange.

Apparent queues were formed outside the Orange stores all over Poland on Thursday night. Some were really




waiting to get their hands on the iPhone. There are also some who are offering their slots in the line in exchange for money (about 100 to 300 zlotys which is equivalent to $45 to $135.

According to Wojciech Jabczynski, their aim was to get attention. The paid people who are in queues were telling the passers-by about Apple Inc.’s iPhone.

Wojciech Jabczynski said that the Telekomunikacja Polska was pleased with the launching results of the iPhone in the country. However, he declined to give any figures. He said that they can never expect the same iPhone fever since the products of Apple Inc. were not really popular in Poland.
