Reports filtering in: Release version of firmware 3.0 works fine

Gizmodo has stated that the newest version of 3.0, version 7a341, installed and works fine on the writer’s iPhone 3G.

iPhone OS 3.0

Jesus Diaz wrote a miniblog updating his status as he installed the 3.0 version on his phone. The 7a341 version should be downloadable on your favorite bittorrent site and can be installed without needing a developer license.

Also unless there are some major changes done soon it should be the version that is released on June 17. So if you feel brave enough and don’t care if your device is jailbroken or not, then download iPhone 3.0 7a341 and give it a try. Of course, doing this (and it not being the “official release date” yet), you assume any and all risk with this activity. But it appears things work smoothly so far, which is a good thing for everyone.

It’s only a few days away, so it may be better if you’re the extra cautious type to wait until the “official” release date.

I tried to install the 3.0 beta for developers but I could only get the iphone in emergancy mode.

I will wait until the 17 for the official version…

Installed last night with this correct version number, the gold master.
Typical to Apple, a great job with an all around improved OS, and many of the features we’ve been waiting for: cut and paste, landscape in multiple applications (including Mail), auto copying of notes to the phone and computer (within the Mail program) among others.

Be brave or wait a few more hours.

Downloaded 3.0 from demonoid about 4 days ago. Works great, and Im loving the new features. Was a breeze to install.

I upgraded mine a few days ago and it’s working fine. Nice to get to all the new features ahead of time. None of the applications are showing any push notification elements so I presume I’ll have to upgrade them post the official launch.

One thing: I tried upgrading a friends iPhone using the image on a Vista PC and it dies half way through. I performed the upgrade on my Mac no problem with his phone though.
