With the overflow of iPod case analysis, Belkin has introduced its new product the $30 Slim-Fit Case for iPhones. As a slide-in-case the Slim-Fit Case does not let the user to use the iPhone while in the case. But rather it offers a protective holster for storing the phone when not in use. With that caution in mind, the Slim-Fit is well-designed. The inflexible front and back panels use attractive leather and stitching, with fabric sides and a soft lining. Overall, this case lives up to its name, as it doesn’t add much volume to the iPod, despite including a leather-covered belt clip on the back.
There are some drawbacks of some pouch/holster cases that they block the iPhone’s bottom-mounted microphone and speaker, muffling the ringer and preventing the caller from using the speakerphone while in the case. Belkin avoids that issue by constructing the bottom of the case out of soft leather with a lattice screen that lets sound in and out. That design additionally avoids another problem with these types of cases, if accidentally the user presses the side-mounted volume and Ringer/Mute buttons while trying to remove the iPhone just press up on the bottom of the case to push the iPhone out an inch. Like most holster-type cases, the Slim-Fit isn’t remarkably protective because there’s not a lot of padding, and whether the case is turned upside-down, the iPhone will slide out. But it’s the best case for it is the slimmest belt-clip case any one may have yet seen.
