After reporting its results for the 2008’s second quarter, AT&T included a few vague details regarding the sales of the second-generation iPhone. In a statement made by the CEO of the company, he said that the second-generation iPhone has already double the sales achieved by the first-generation iPhone last year. This happened just a few days after the 3G iPhone was launched in the market. However, neither the Apple Inc. nor the AT&T agreed to release specific numbers of the device’s sales. Moreover, AT&T did not also mentioned whether the doubled sales refer to the sales made by their company, by Apple Inc. or combination of the two companies.

But AT&T mentioned however, that the number of subscribers increased as much as 1.3 million. And most of these subscribers are choosing high-end smartphones – usually the likes of the iPhone from Apple Inc. Because of this increase in the number of subscribers, it contributed more than 50 percent of the increase in the revenue of AT&T’s wireless data service.

Apple previously mentioned that they have sold more than 700,000 units of the iPhone during this year’s first quarter. However, it is not definite how many of these units where sold in United States because it already include the sales in three countries namely Germany, France, and United Kingdom.
