Before the patch, most iPhone users were ranting about the battery life of their device. But those who have tried the new OS said that they checked the battery status of their iPhone at least four hours since they have updated to the 2.1 software. Surprisingly, it turns out that the battery indicator showed a full bar. If it would have been the first iPhone OS, the battery could have gone between 50 to 75 percent of the battery’s life.

Now, for the reliability of the phone, with the latest iPhone OS, some iPhone users haven’t experienced dropped calls yet while others said that there are actually no improvements about this issue.
Most have also tried updating their applications as well. Aside from the faster application update, the new OS also allows the icon of the application to stay where it was first located. Therefore, there is no need to reorganize your screen each and every time you update the application.

2.1 is great… Too bad its actually 2.0.3.
This is a great first step towards a stable OS, now get some of the features that were supposed to be in 2.1 in there.
Specifically the Push Notification service.
Like everyone else, the weak spots I had with the iphone were Battery life( which limited it to daily recharge), the limited perciseness of the GPS, and some access in web base screens.
THe 2.1 extended the battery life almost immeadiately- what would have been down to recharge was showing more than 1/2 a battery life
The GPS hasn’t changed, but from the start- the signal reception has been extrodinary.
Some things have been fixed however there are a lot of people (including me!) with email fetch problems when the phone is in standby/sleep:
