South Africa to welcome iPhones on July 20
Few weeks ago, Vodacom signed a deal with Apple stating that they will be carrying iPhones in South Africa. And now that the next-generation iPhone is about to be launched, it is expected that Vodacom will release the much-awaited 3G iPhone on July 20 in South Africa.

The launching of the 3G iPhone by Vodacom is included in the ten-country deal which was announced last month. This confirms the people’s speculation that there will be a next-generatio iPhone to be released. But during that time, there are no solid confirmations from Vodacom as to when they would distribute the iPhone in South Africa. They only mentioned that they would be releasing the iPhone later this year.
However, the said launch date was not confirmed by Vodacom but it cam from a reliable source who have already seen the latest iPhone.
Few months ago, iPhone was only available to countries like United States, France, United Kingdom, and Germany. But because of its efforts to expand its market, there are now at least seventy countries where the iPhone will be available including South Africa.
The people in South Africa were able to use iPhones even before Vodacom signed the deal with Apple. However, they buy it overseas and have them unlocked so that they can insert their SIM card from their current network provider.
Apple Inc. is also expected that they would decrease the price of the new-generation iPhone. This can be a great marketing technique in order to sell at least 10 million iPhone units before the year 2008 ends.
