The Android and the iPhone

Google has finally made its debut in the Phone world with the release of the Android, this move by Google is seen by a lot of people as a glimpse into how technology would progress in the coming years. One of the biggest issues surround Google’s release of the Android is the fact that the new phone poses a threat over the market sales of the widely popular iPhone.

Despite all the speculation, one thing is certain: The Android is not the iPhone. So for all people out there, stop calling it the gPhone, call it by its real name: The Android. As we learn more about the Google’s Android, the more we see that it is not targeting the market of the iPhone. In fact, both phones are completely different. They appeal to different kinds of clients.

The iPhone is a more stylish take on the Smart Phone, but it fails some of the expectations that people have when they hear the word “Smart Phone”. In all aspects, the iPhone is a unique and innovative gadget whose appeal is geared towards the more fashion conscious lot.

The Android on the other hand looks more corporate and professional than the iPhone. It is set to take over the market of suit wearing corporate types that want their gadgets to say: “Hey! I mean Business”. Aside from appearances the Android also has all the desirable features offered by the latest Smart Phones in the market. Another interesting thing about the Android is that it comes with its own Operating System, a move that paints a picture of Google encroaching into a market previously dominated by Microsoft and Symbian.

Looking back at the main reason why the iPhone sold with record numbers is its innovative touch screen user interface. When proponents of the Android were asked abut the constitution of their new phone, they said that their phone would be cool.

Other than the issue of sales, one of the main reasons that the world is taking an in depth look into Google’s move into the phone business, is the not phone – but the move itself; the same way that Apple got attention when they release their iPhone. With Google following suit, who knows what the future may hold; one thing is certain for now and it is: We are seeing the first tremors of what will soon become a big part of the way things work in the future.
