The beginnings of the Apple iPhone may have been hinted at back in 1999 when Apple acquired the new domain name iphone.org. This is the same name which directs people to the company’s corporate page.

In 2002 there were more hints that something was underway. There was buzz that the
Company had begun development of the next generation of smart phones. Analysts pointed out that there was evidence in the new features of the Mac’s operating system.
The company’s CEO, Steve Jobs, fields a question about development of such a phone with a sidestep answer. He basically said products not yet developed for market were not open to discussion.

In September of 2002 a website called ePairie leaked some photos of what was supposedly an Apple iPhone. The pictures were fakes but they got the electronic world and millions of tech crazies out there hungry for more information.

In January of 2007 the iPhone was presented at MacWorld by Steve Jobs. The interest in the device goes without saying. It’s light sensitive screen (adjusts its brightness to the environmental lighting), a sensor that detects if you’re holding it in portrait or landscape mode plus one that knows when you’re holding it close to your face (phone mode) and shuts down the screen to save power.

The new technology developed for the iPhone is called multi-touch and is, as Steve Jobs assures us, patented. The user needs only to use his or fingers to operate the iphone which makes it one of the easiest to use devices made.

The more complicated the world becomes the more we look for technology to give us shortcuts to ease the stress. The iPhone may not keep your high blood pressure in check but it will make your life a little easier.
