The touch screen of the Apple iPhone is, in my opinion, one of its coolest features. It allows for the fingers to be used ad opposed to a stylus. I was always dropping and losing the stylus. However I live in a warmer part of the country and never wear gloves. This might be an issue for those in colder regions.

The keypad is a little hard to use as the letters are placed quite close together. But there are features which help to make up for the awkwardness of using your thumbs one small keypads. It features automatic spell checking and predictive word capabilities. The dynamic dictionary is capable of learning new words. The keypad is bit larger is landscape mode but that is only for use with Safari.. You automatically get the landscape mode when you turn the iphone on its side.

The screen itself is quite impressive with its liquid crystal display and the effect is clear, rich images that are surprising for a device this small. You almost hate to touch the screen for fear of leaving smudges but the phone withstands the handling quite well.
The screen takes up most of the phone.

The one physical button turns on the device, the rest of the options, sixteen of them, are accessible through the touch screen. There is no scroll wheel like in the ipods. Everything is done by touch. You can touch and drag downwards to scan through a list of words.

Getting use to using the keypad and the screen takes some practice. The keypad can be a bit frustrating but once you get the knack of it the frustration levels drops. The corrective functions mentioned above make using the device much easier.
