Typing Genius, just released and available in the App Store for only $2.00, is a new typing tutor for the iPhone that includes 50 randomized exercises in 17 categories to challenge and teach your fingers. Key statistics are provided, allowing users to see how they perform in normal mode, landscape, and without auto-correction. Tips regarding hidden shortcuts are also included, so that your typing on the iPhone should be greatly improved by using this tool.

The application’s developer boasts “Most iPhone users type at an average rate of 30-50 CPM (characters per minute). Typing Genius can assist you in reaching an average of 100-150CPM.”. That’s a big claim, so it’ll be interesting to see if that pans out for the average user.

A number of other typing applications for the iPhone exist, but none seem quite as polished looking as the Typing Genius. The app sports a clean, slick interface, exercises that at least feel like they could improve typing speed and nice touches like the ability to use either landscape or portrait typing, which does have a different feel to it.
