View London’s traffic hot spots on your iPhone
A new iPhone application, London JamCams allows London motorists to view cameras to pick jam-free routes.

London’s drivers can now have a stress-free journey and avoid congested roads by using their iPhone/iPod Touch to view Transport for London’s live cameras to see traffic hot spots and plan a jam-free route.
The new application, released this month, allows motorists to view any of TfL’s 179 traffic cameras across Greater London. Drivers can choose cameras from an A – Z list, via saved “favourite” cameras, but more importanly also create their own “routes of cameras”, such as cameras on regular commutes or the school-run. All cameras can then be viewed either by slideshow or manually in order to see a the congestion before setting off.
Lead developer Michael Kaye said:
“London’s roads are notoriously busy and so we wanted to create an app that would take advantage of the great cameras Transport for London has to allow everyone to plan a great route. Although possible to view the cameras directly via the web, the key for us was to allow the user to define their own routes of cameras thus enabling them to see congestion along the whole route. Whether you are a rush hour commuter, or just going into London for a one off, we hope London JamCams can help make your journey as easy and stress free as possible”
Drivers can search for cameras by road name or area, zoom-in on the camera image and can also link to a quick map to spot the exact location of the camera and any traffic problems.
The application has already received rave reviews in iTunes:
“This is GREAT *****
Good list of cameras, nice functionality – including being able to set up a route and then progress forward through just those cameras – and seems rock solid: unusual for an app accessing so many pictures. Very nice.”

The application is available from the Apple iTunes Store for £1.79
