The wireless date services of iPhone’s exclusive carrier in United States went down a few days ago. As a result, there was a service outage for its 3G as well as EDGE across the East Coast of the country.

According to the article from ArsTechnica the problem lasted for about ten up to twelve hours. It made several iPhone users as well as other mobile phone customers unable to access their e-mail, surf the internet as well as other data services provided by AT&T. On the other hand, the text messaging services of AT&T appeared to be unaffected.

One reader of AppleInsider and an iPhone

user from the East Coast said that a technical representative from the service provider confirmed that they had major problems during that time which affected a huge area in United States. The technical representative even called the problem as a Level 1 issue. Moreover, the tech representative also mentioned that her map which usually shows green areas is now filled with red areas on most parts of the country.

Most users of the iPhone were active in reporting the issue since early morning. They have used the support forms from AT&T as well as Apple Inc.

The service was restored during the afternoon of the same day.
