When Will American Car Companies Offer iPhone Integration?
There is no secret that American car companies are struggling. Japanese car makers including Toyota and Honda rule the roost (most are manufactured here in the states) and American car companies are getting desperate. Such acts of desperation manifested themselves most notable with last year hype saturation of the Employee reduction pricing and just recently, the announcement of GM companies to offer lifetime powertrain warranties.
You may think American cars are unreliable, cheaply made, and ugly and you may be right. But there might plus be the component of American companies just not doing anything cool in their cars.
Take that news for example: Chrysler, Jeep and Doge did not start offering iPod integration kits until 2006. And Ford and GM companies did not offer iPod integration packages in their vehicles until that year.
With news of BMW joining Audi as the first automakers to offer iPhone integration, it begs the question as to when American car companies will join the party? Will it take until the iPhone gains as much marketshare as the ipod holds before they start offering such packages? whether so, they are doomed to stay uncool forever.
